The management of the Federal Polytechnic Ado has released the admission requirements for National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes. Interested candidates should see Fed Poly Ado admission requirements below.

SCHOOL OF BUSINESS STUDIES

Entry Requirements for National Diploma
The minimum entry requirement into the National Diploma (ND) Programme in the School of Business Studies is five credit passes in the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) or National Examination Council (NECO) at not more than two sittings. The subjects must include English Language (Literature-in-English and Oral English are not accepted in place of English Language), Mathematics and three other subjects from Economics, Business Methods, Principles of Accounts, Literature-in-English, Commerce, History, Statistics, Geography, Government, Agric. Science/Biology. However, a candidate may be admitted into the Office Technology and Management
Department if he has:

  • Grade II Teachers Certificate with five (5) Credits including English Language and Mathematics at not more than two sittings; or
  • an RSA/WAEC Business Studies Certificate Stage II in Shorthand, Typewriting, English Language, Mathematics and one other subjects at not more than two sittings; or
  • five credit passes in the relevant subjects in the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB).

Entry Requirements for Higher National Diploma
The minimum entry requirements into the HND programme in the School of Business Studies include:

  • all the requirements for admission into the ND programme in Business Studies;
  • a minimum of Lower Credit Pass (CGPA of 2.50) in ND Business Studies or related programme; and
  • a minimum of one year post-ND cognate work experience in Internship.

In exceptional cases, ND diplomats with a Pass (CGPA of 2.00 – 2.49) in the ND examination, with two or more years of work experience in the specific field may be considered for admission into the HND programme.

SCHOOL OF SCIENCE AND COMPUTER STUDIES

Entry Requirements for National Diploma
The minimum entry requirement into the National Diploma programme in the School of Science and Computer Studies is at least five credit passes in the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) or General Certificate of Education (GCE O/L) or National Examinations Council (NECO) in not more than two sittings. The subjects must include English Language, Mathematics and any other three subjects, depending on the Department.
In addition to the basic requirements listed below, applicants must pass the relevant subjects in the Polytechnic/College of Education  Examination  (PCE) administered by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

Department of Computer  Science
Three credit level passes from Statistics, Economics/Commerce, Chemistry, Physics, Additional/ Further Mathematics, Biology/Agric  Science, Food and Nutrition, Geography.

Department of Food Technology
Credit level passes in Chemistry, Biology/Food Nutrition/Agricultural  Science and any one of the following: Physics, Economics and Geography.

Department of Glass & Ceramic Technology
Credit level passes in Chemistry and any other two subjects from Physics, Geography, Technical Drawing, Fine Art/Wood-work, Metal-work, Additional  Mathematics, Biology/Agricultural Science, Economics/Statistics.

Department of Science Technology
Credit level passes in any two of Biology/Agricultural Science, Chemistry and Physics with at least a pass in the third. The fourth credit must be from any of Additional/Further Mathematics, Economics, Geography.

Department of Statistics
Three credit level passes from Statistics, Geography, Additional/Further Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Biology/Agricultural  Science, Economics/Commerce, Government, Accounts/Book- keeping.

Entry Requirements for Higher National Diploma
The minimum entry requirement for the Higher National Diploma programmes in the School of
Science and Computer Studies include
(a)  all the conditions and requirements for National Diploma (ND) in the relevant programme; (b)  at least a lower credit level pass in ND in the relevant programme and one year post-ND
industrial training in a relevant Industry.
OR
a pass in ND in the relevant programme with at least two years industrial training in a relevant industry.
