The Faculty of Law, University of Nigeria, Nsukka is one of the most foremost Law Faculty in Nigeria. Being a reputable institution, the University of Nigeria Nsukka Faculty of Law was the first Law faculty in Nigeria and it receives thousands of applications from prospective Law candidates. This makes the Faculty of Law one of the most competitive in the whole school.
Students are admitted into the respective law programmes if they satisfy the general university admission requirements for UTME and direct entry requirement. In addition, all students (including direct entry candidates) must satisfy the Faculty entry requirements of Credit level passes in English Language, English Literature and a Science subject in School Certificate or its equivalent.
Admission into UNN faculty of law is strictly on merit and candidates must have a good performance in their UTME by meeting the UNN Cut Off Mark for Law.
Though law is a composite programme, for management purposes the College is divided into three (3) departments, namely;
- Private and Public Law
- International Law and Jurisprudence
- Property Law
UNN FACULTY OF LAW ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
UNN UTME Law Requirements:
English Language, Literature-in-English and any two Arts or Social Sciences subjects.
UNN UTME Subjects:
Five O/Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Literature-in-English and any two of Arts or Social Sciences subjects.
NOTE: UNN does not require mathematics and does not accept Fine Art or Local languages.
UNN Direct Entry Law Requirements:
(i) Two ‘A’ level passes in Arts or Social Science subjects.
(ii) NCE/ND/First Degree (Second Class Lower).
LENGTH OF THE LL.B DEGREE PROGRAMME IN UNN
There is also a four-year programme, which is open to a limited number of candidates who already possess University degrees, diplomas and GCE A/Level.
HIGHER DEGREES
At the postgraduate level, the Faculty is endowed with sufficient research facilities to enable it offer courses leading to the award of LL.M, M.Phil. and Ph.D. degrees.
