The Ibarapa Polytechnic Admission Requirements

The Ibarapa Polytechnic Admission Requirements for admission screening exercise for ND and HND Programmes has been released.

The management of the Ibarapa Polytechnic has released the admission requirements for National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes of the polytechnic. Prospective candidates should see admission requirements for all programmes below.

THE IBARAPA POLYTECHNIC ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS.

Computer Science

• National Diploma

5 Credit passes in the WASC, SSCE and GCE O’Level in not more than 2 sittings.
The subject must include:

• English Language
• Mathematics
• Physics
• And any two of the following: Chemistry, Economics, Biology/Agric Science, Geography
• (Minimum of a Pass (D7) in Physics is allowed).
• Higher National Diploma (HND)

Applicant must possess a National Diploma in Computer Science with at least a lower credit grade from any recognized Polytechnic or College of Technology and at least one year Post ND industrial experience.
OR
Privilege is given to candidates who had a pass grade of not less than 45% weighted average, but such candidate must possess at least two years post ND relevant industrial experience, OR any other equivalent certificate.

In addition to the above, candidate must meet the admission requirement for ND Computer Science of The Ibarapa Polytechnic; Eruwa i.e. must obtain a credit pass in the following subjects at not more than two sittings.

• English Language
• Mathematics
• Physics
• And any two of the following; Chemistry, Economics, Biology/Agric Science, Geography
• (Minimum of a Pass (D7) in Physics is allowed).

Library and Information Science

• ND Library and Information Science

A credit Pass in English language (compulsory) with 4 credits in any other subject plus at least a PASS in Mathematics at GCE O’Level/WASCE/NECO/SSCE.

• HND Library and Information Science

ND in Library Studies OR ND/NCE in any field of study from any reputable Polytechnic or College of Education WITH A credit pass in English Language (compulsory), 4 credits in any other subjects PLUS at least a Pass in mathematics at GCE O’Level/WASCE/NECO/SSCE.

Math & Statistics

• National Diploma (ND) Programme

5 credits passess in the WASC, SSCE or GCE O’Level in not more than two sittings. The subject must include Mathematics, a basic science and any three from the following:

• Statistics
• Physics
• Chemistry
• Biology/agric science
• Further Mathematics
• Economics/commerce
• Geography
• English language and
• Government and at least a pass in English language.

• Higher National Diploma (HND) Programme

Applicants must possess National Diploma in Statistics with at least a lower credit grade for The Polytechnic, Ibadan or any other Polytechnic or College of Technology with equivalent standard and with at least one year post ND relevant industrial experience.

Privilege is given to products of The Polytechnic, Ibadan ONLY who had a pass grade of not less that 45% weighted average, but such candidate must possess at least two years post ND relevant industrial experience OR any other equivalent certificate.

In addition to the above, a candidate must meet the admission requirement for ND Statistics of The Ibarapa Polytechnic, Eruwa i.e. must obtain at least a pass in English language and credit possess in Mathematics and any three subjects from:

• Physics
• Chemistry
• Biology/agric science
• Additional Mathematics/Further Mathematics
• Economics/commerce
• Geography
• Government and
• English language

FINE ART – {COURSE REQUIREMENT}

• English language     –        Credit
• Fine Art                  –        Credit/Pass
• Mathematics           –        Credit
• And any other three O’Level subject at Credit level

FASHION DESIGN – {COURSE REQUIREMENT}

• English language     –        Credit
• Mathematics           –        Credit
• And any other three O’Level subject at Credit level.

Civil Engineering

Course requirements. For holders of WAEC/NECO/GCE, Five minimum credits require include Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry with any two subjects from:

• Biology/agric science
• Technical drawing
• Woodwork
• Further Mathematics
• English language
• Geography
• Economics/commerce

At least a pass in English language is required OR
For holders of NABTEB Certificate a credit pass is required in Mathematics with any two subjects from:

• Physics
• Chemistry
• Biology/agricultural science
• Technical drawing
• Woodwork
• Further Mathematics
• Building engineering drawing
• Economics/commerce

At least a pass in English language is required
And

Good pass in following UTME subjects:

• Mathematics
• Physics
• Chemistry/Technical drawing.

Business Administration & Mgt.

The requirement for ND full-time Programme

Five credits in GCE/O’level, WAEC, NECO or SSCE in not more than two sittings which include the followings:

• English language
• Mathematics
• Economics or commerce

And any 2 from the followings:

• Government
• Principles of accounts/book-keeping
• Geography
• Business methods
• Office practice
• Biology
• Agric science
• Chemistry
• Physics

Requirements for HND full-time progamme

• Five O’level credits from above
• A good grade in OND
• Evidence of one year industrial training or attachment.

ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING ADMISSION REQUIREMENT 
Five credit pass in not more than two sittings for holders of WAEC/NECO, GCE and NABTEB certificate.

• Mathematics, physics and chemistry and any two subjects from:
• Biology /Agricultural Science,
• Technical Drawing
• Basic Electronics /Basic Electricity
• Electrical installation, Further mathematics
• English Language
• Geography and Economics
• With at least a pass in English Language.

NATIONAL DIPLOMA
Applicant must possess five (5) Credit passes at WAEC, NECO, and GCE ‘O’SSCEor NABTEB.
Candidate must have minimum of credit passes from physics, chemistry, Mathematics, English Language plus any other from among Technical Drawing, Biology, Agricultural Science, Economics, Geography, Auto Mechanical Wood Work, Welding and Fabrication, Building Engineering Drawing, Applied Electricity and physics with Electronics.
NB:

• National technical Certificate in Mechanical Crafts (NTC). Candidate must however have minimum requirement with credit pass in five subjects including English Language.
• A pass from the pre-ND Mechanical Engineering Programme, from a recognize institution in addition to the minimum pass mark from UTME Examination

HIGHER NATIONAL DIPLOMA

• Five (5) Credit technical passes in NECO, WASCE,GCE,’O’ Level NABTEB in any of the following subjects. Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistic, Economics, Agricultural Science and English Language at not more than two(2) sittings.
• Applicant must possess National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with Lower Credit and above from any recognize NBTE ACCREDITED Institution with at least one – year post and relevant Industrial Experience.
• Applicant with a PASS Grade in ND but with Two years Post-ND relevant industrial Experience will also be considered up to specified percentage of the class capacity.

OFFICE TECHNOLOGY MANAGEMENT 
Five ‘O’ Level Credit pass in not more than two sittings in:

• English Language (not Literature in English)
• Mathematics
• Economics / Commerce /Business methods / Office Practice.

And any two other subjects at not more than two sittings:

• Principle of Accounting
• Literature
• Government
• Geography
• Biology
• History
• Typewriting
• Shorthand
• Agricultural Science
• Chemistry
• Physics

Ibarapa Polytechnic requires pass in Mathematics but accept Principles of Account.

MASS COMMUNICATION
Credit passes in Mathematics and English Language and any additional three (3) credit from:

• Geography
• Physics
• Yoruba
• Account
• History
• Chemistry
• Government
• Biology
• IRK/CRS
• Economics
• Commerce
• Literature in English

HIGHER NATIONAL DIPLOMA
National Diploma in Communication at Lower credit or above plus 1 year Post ND Industrial Attachment or a Pass in ND plus 2years Industrial Attachment. In addition, ND holders must possess 5 Credit passes in WASCE,GCE, NABTEB,SSCE or NECO at not more than 2 sittings.
