Federal Government Announces Date for Commencement of WAEC [May/June]

Federal Government Announces Date for Commencement of WAEC for School Candidates Examinations (May/June).

The Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajuiba, disclosed on Monday during the briefing by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 in Abuja that the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) will now hold from August 4 to September 5, 2020.

He further explained that a decision on when the National Examinations Council, NECO, National Business and Technical Examinations Board, NABTEB, will be taken after the WASSCE.

He appealed to candidates to prepare for their examinations.

He said registration for the National Examination Council (NECO) continues.

“We are continuing registration for NECO, for those who have not concluded registration, please try to complete your registration.”

Subsequently, WAEC Nigeria stated via its Twitter handle, “The Head of the Nigeria National Office of WAEC, Mr Patrick Ehidiamen Areghan will address the Press tomorrow (Tuesday) morning. #StayTuned #WASSCE2020 #Timetable”

Meanwhile, the federal government last week approved what it called “safe reopening” of schools nationwide. The reopening of schools was meant to allow students in graduating classes (Primary 6, JSS 3, SS3) resume preparation for examinations.
