This is to inform all the newly admitted students of the Delta State University (DELSU) that the management of the institution has released the dates for the 2018/2019 academic session orientation programme.

ORIENTATION PROGRAMME FOR FRESH STUDENTS (2018/2019 SESSION) FROM WEDNESDAY 9TH TO FRIDAY 11TH JANUARY, 2019 IN THE 1,000 CAPACITY LECTURE THEATRE, SITE III, ABRAKA

DAY 1: WEDNESDAY, 9TH JANUARY, 2019

10.00 a.m. All fresh students are seated.

10.15 a.m. Arrival of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Victor F. Peretomode, the Registrar, Bursar, University Librarian, Deans of Faculty, Professors, Directors of Academic Programmes and Heads of Department.

10.30 a.m. Introduction of the Vice-Chancellor and other dignitaries by the Public Relations Officer.

10.45 a.m. Welcome address by the Dean of Students, Professor Augustus O. Atubi.

10.50 a.m. Address by the Chairman of the occasion/Vice-Chancellor, Professor Victor F. Peretomode

11.20 a.m. Vote of thanks by a representative of the Fresh Students.

11.25. a.m. Departure of the Vice-Chancellor, Principal Officers, Deans of Faculty, Professors, Directors and Heads of Department.

BUSINESS SESSION

11.30 a.m. 1st Lecture “The Essence of University Education” by the Dean of Education Professor E. Kpangban

12.00 noon 2nd Lecture “Entrepreneurship” by the Ag. Director of Entrepreneurial Studies, Dr. U.N.O. Edewor.

12.30 p.m. 3rd Lecture “Practical Demonstration of on-line registration and e-payment of fees” by Mr. Joe Ebasa.

1.00 p.m. Questions and Answers.

1.30 p.m. Closing/Departure.

DAY II: THURSDAY, 10TH JANUARY, 2019

10.00 a.m. All fresh students are seated.

10.15 a.m. 1st Lecture “Procedure for Registration of Courses” by the Registrar, Mr. Daniel A. Urhibo.

10.45 a.m. 2nd Lecture “The Bursary Department and its Role to Students” by the Bursar, Mr. J. O. Egbare.

11.15 a.m. 3rd Lecture “The University Library and you” by the University Librarian, Professor S. O. Uwaifo.

11.45 a.m. 4th Lecture “Time Management for Effective Performance/Functions of the Counseling Unit” by the Ag. Director, Students Counseling Centre, Dr. E. Oghounu.

12.15 p.m. 5th Lecture “Gender Issues” by the Director, Centre for Gender & Development Studies, Professor (Mrs.) D.O. Arubayi.
