Ahmadu Bello Unversity (ABU) Distance learning admission form for diplomas and certificate programmes (BSc/ PGDE, MBA) for the 2018/2019 academic session is out.

ABU Distance Learning Admission Form

This is to inform the general public and all interested applicants that the Ahmadu Bello Unversity, ABU Distance Learning Center, DLC has commenced the sales of application forms into their various BS.c, PGDE, MBA programmes for 2018/2019 academic session.

The Ahmadu Bello University was established in October 1962 and presently has a population of about 30,000 undergraduate and 10,000 postgraduate students drawn from various parts of Africa and the rest of the world.

The Distance Learning Centre was set up to ensure qualitative, accessible and timely delivery of approved academic programmes to its students without distinction based on geographic location, race, sex, religion or other affiliations.

ABU Distance Learning Center Admission Requirements

A. Undergraduate Programmes

  • B.Sc Business Administration

Ahmadu Bello University’s eLearning degree in Business Administration provides students with a breadth of knowledge and skills needed for managing business operations. These skills include forecasting demand, planning inventory, purchasing services, conducting skillful negotiations, building strategies for the future and managing people, finances and risk.

Minimum number of courses per semester: 5

Entry Requirements into the Department
  • A minimum of Five Credits in S.S.C.E., G.C.E, O/L or equivalent. A candidate must have 5 credits in English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any other two relevant subjects, at not more than two sittings.
  • Non-Direct Entry (i.e. 100 Level) applicant in addition to (a) above must write Universities Matriculation Examination (UME) and attain an acceptable standard in the use of English, Mathematics, Economics and any other relevant subject, as prescribe in the JAMB Brochure.
Direct Entry (i.e. 200 Level) Applicants with the following qualifications in addition to (a) above may be considered for admission:
  • Two A/Level passes in IJMB Examination or Cambridge Moderated Schools or Basic Studies Terminal Examination. The passes should be in any two of the following subject Economics, Accounting, Business Management, Statistics, Government and Geography. Or
  • A candidate with a Diploma in Accounting, Banking and Finance, Insurance or Management with a minimum of Merit Pass from Ahmadu Bello University may be accepted.

All OND Candidates will be admitted into 200 Level

Duration:
(i.) Minimum of four and maximum of six academic sessions for UTME candidates.
(ii) Minimum of three and maximum of five academic sessions for Direct Entry candidates.

  • B.Sc Economics

Economics is a social science concerned with how societies deal with scarcity. Our NUC Accredited degree in economics trains you to model economic phenomena in a precise and rigorous way using quantitative tools such as algebra, calculus, and statistics. You’ll graduate with the qualifications for competitive positions in banking and finance, as well as top graduate programs in economics, business, and law.

Minimum number of courses per semester: 5

Entry Level
All candidates applying for the Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics must have at least
  • Five credits in SSCE, SC, GCE O/L obtained at not more than two sittings. The five credits must include credit in Mathematics; credit in English Language in SSCE, SC, GCE O/L or IJMB and credit in Economics. The other credits can be from other subjects like Additional mathematics, Geography, Government, Accounting, Commerce, etc.
  • For the Four-Year Programme, applicants must write the Universities Matriculation
    Examination (UME) and attain an acceptable standard in the use of English, Mathematics, Economics and any other subject.
Direct Entry
For the three-year programme for which admission is given to 200 level, prospective candidates must:
  • Satisfy the O’ Level requirements and have sat for three A’ Level subjects including Economics and must have passed them creditably.

All OND Candidates will be admitted into 200 Level

You’ll examine practical solutions to problems within the public sector and look at public administration, public service and policy from a professional standpoint. You will learn from our highly ranked faculty who are leading scholars of public administration as well as practitioners who teach from their vast experience.

With our B.Sc in Public Administration, you will be empowered to create change in the public service.

Minimum number of courses per semester: 5

Entry Requirements
All candidates to be admitted into the B.Sc degree in Public Administration programme must possess

  • Five (5) O’level credits in Government/History, English Language, Maths, Economics, and any other two (2) credits in social science or Art subject in the SSCCE, WASC, NECO  at not more than two (2) sittings.
  • At UTME level, candidates must write Government/History, Maths, English language and any other social science or art subject.
  • All OND Candidates will be admitted into 200 Level
  • All HND Candidates will be admitted into 300 Level

The ‘A’ Level subject for Direct Entry candidates must include Government/History and Economics.

  • BNSc. Nursing Science
Delivered entirely over the Internet, our RN-BNSc. programme  is affordable, flexible, convenient, and accessible.

All Bachelor of Nursing Science Students are required to take core courses which will provide knowledge in basic Nursing Philosophy and Practice. Students will also take elective courses in Law, Sociology and Psychology.

As part of the academic Bachelor’s Degree programme, each Candidate would be required to go on community and hospital postings in their 3rd and 4th Year respectively. The Students would have designated Clinical Preceptors for this purpose, they will be expected to have a seminar whereby they will share the experience they had throughout the period.

Entry Admission Requirements

  • Applicants must be nurses registered by the Nursing and Midwfery, Council of Nigeria (RN/RPN/RM/RPHN etc)
  • Applicants must possess ‘O’ Level Credit in five (5) subjects obtained at NO MORE THAN TWO SITTINGS.
  • Ordinary level passes must include English Language,
    Mathematics, Physics, Biology and Chemistry

Program Duration:

  • MBA Regular(4 Semesters):Fast track- 18 months, Normal- 24 months
  • MBA Special (5 Semesters): Fast track- 24 months, Normal- 28 months

Min. number of courses per semester: 4

Entry Requirements

  • Applicants must possess the basic university entry requirement of five credit passes including English and Mathematics at O’ Level (WAEC, NECO, GCE or IJMB only)
  • Applicants must posses NYSC certificate (or exemption letter) especially for applicants under 30 years and any of (3,4,5 and 6). Graduates from NOUN, other distance learning centers within or outside the country are exempted from this requirement
  • Bachelor’s degree in any field with at least a second class lower or 2.40 Cumulative Grade Point Average from any recognized University
  • Bachelor’s degree in any field with 3rd class plus 5 years post-graduation experience or a Third class with Post Graduate Diploma
  • HND holders from any recognized Polytechnic with a minimum of Lower Credit who are holders of either a Post Graduate Diploma or any recognized professional certificates such as ANAN, ACIB and ACA etc may be considered

NOTE: After you have successfully submitted and paid for your application, you will receive an offer of provisional admission via email inviting you for a screening exercise where you will be required to present hard copies of all relevant credentials (WASSCE, NECO, GCE) etc)
Once you have successfully gone through the screening exercise, all that’s left for you to do is to register your courses, make payment and get acquainted with our e-Learning platform.
